  • Visual observation of ear canal and tympanic membrane (ear drum) using an otoscope or video otoscope if needed or requested

  • PTA measures the quietest sound a person can perceive (Threshold). Based on the combined results from Air and Bone Conduction (AC/BC) testing we can determine the degree and likely of permanent or temporary hearing loss.

  • Speech test measures how well a person can hear speech. This test is particularly important for hearing rehabilitation through hearing aid as it measures integrity of hearing nerve. Poor hearing nerve function leads to sound distortion.

  • This test is divided into two parts

    Tympanometry measures the movement of the eardrum in response to changes in air pressure, which is applied safely.

    Acoustic reflex testing involves playing loud noises to check part of the hearing nerve function. We do not conduct this test for people experiencing tinnitus and hyperacusis/noise sensitivity
